But the two have always been intertwined in my mind, as I grew up involved in saving industrial archaeology, and reading as my first Heyer at the age of 8 'Frederica' in which I fell in love with Felix.
Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03121102757759349165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-196124033481143515.post-44817132991331962772016-02-26T21:25:40.990+00:002016-02-26T21:25:40.990+00:00Trevithick built a steam engine that on 21st Febru...Trevithick built a steam engine that on 21st February 1804 that travelled 9 miles at the Penydarren Ironworks pulling wagons carrying 10 tons of iron with 70 men riding on the wagons. The speed was an average of 5mph.

The tracks of the tramway broke under the weight of the engine, but the principle of using steam engines on tracks was established. The engine was later used in a static role to power a steam hammer. A replica of the steam engine has been built and can be seen at The National Waterfront Museum, Swansea, Wales.Stephen Barkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03076287980465633357noreply@blogger.com
