Regency History Timeline
The Regency was from 1811 to 1820. However, the term ‘Regency’ is often used to describe the period from the late eighteenth century to the early nineteenth.
We’ve chosen to research and write about the reigns of George III, George IV and, sometimes, William IV. That’s from 1760 to 1837.
1760-1770
25 October 1760 - Death of George II means his grandson becomes George III
8 September 1761 - Marriage of George III to Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz
22 September 1761 - Coronation of George III and Queen Charlotte
12 August 1762 - Birth of George Prince of Wales, later Prince Regent and George IV
10 February 1763 - Treaty of Paris ends the Seven Years War
10 December 1766 - Founding of the Royal Academy of Arts in London
